Earth Hour 2009

Hi all! This past Saturday, March 28th, something called Earth Hour occurred. Here’s some information about Earth Hour.

2.2 million homes and businesses turned off their lights for one hour in Sydney in 2007, creating Earth Hour. The following year 50 million people and landmarks such as; the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Colosseum in Rome, the Sydney Opera House, the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, turned off their lights. This past Saturay, Earth Hour was taken to another level, with a hopeful goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of the global vote. The difference in this election is that its not about the country that you live in, but to save the planet you live on. For the 2009 VOTE EARTH over 74 countries and territories had pledge their support, and numbers grow every day. Their goal… to have the Earth precious for future generations to live on.

Hey, so instead of having Earth Hour just once a year, how about trying it about once a month? When you go to the store during the day, instead of; leaving the lights on here and there, the radio on, etc. try opening the blinds to let the sunlight in. Its not bad for the Earth, sunlight is something natural and most likely won’t hurt anything inside your home. J Below are some pictures of Earth Hour 2009! Thanks for everyone who participated.
