It wasn't until 2008 that people really got involved in trying to "Go Green", it was on almost everyone's New Year's Resolution. Those people that have kept that promise, Congratulations! Those of you that are trying but haven't really, here are some facts that might encourage you to try to get more active.
Even though everyone's trying to find a "Greener" lifestyle, did you know that it's already too late? It's not that the more that you can do to help it, won't help, it will, but the damage that we've done is already taking the toll. Scientist estimate that we've lost over 13,000 sq km of
ice over the past 50 years! Now a days we already use up 50% of the Earth's freshwater, and scientist predict that in another 15 years we'll be using about 75%. Over 1.5 billion people over the world already lack drinking water. As we all know, April 22nd, is the most important day for our planet...
EARTH DAY! If you don't know what to do to help out on that special day, here's a short list.
Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth
Unplug things that use electricity (if you can) that are turned off
Bring your own plastic bag, or even tote, to go grocery shopping. If you don't want to re-use your grocery bag, then bring it to the store and ask if they have a place to recycle it.
Don't turn on the AC when it's just a little warm outside. Open up the windows for natural breezes.
Walk to walking-distance-places that you need to go, no need to turn on the car. You can get a good exercise and you're helping out the environment.
Don't turn the faucet on full blast if you just need a little water, use just enough for whatever you're doing.
Pack your lunch in re-usable containers and bag. The less you throw out, the better.
