Recycling Cans in the Mall

Hey y'all.
I'd like to know something from everyone. If there were to have recycling bins for paper and plastic, etc, in the malls next to the trash cans would you put them in?

Please email: ally.project@gmail.com
to let me know your answer. Thanks so much.

Earth Hour 2009

Hi all! This past Saturday, March 28th, something called Earth Hour occurred. Here’s some information about Earth Hour.

2.2 million homes and businesses turned off their lights for one hour in Sydney in 2007, creating Earth Hour. The following year 50 million people and landmarks such as; the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Colosseum in Rome, the Sydney Opera House, the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, turned off their lights. This past Saturay, Earth Hour was taken to another level, with a hopeful goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of the global vote. The difference in this election is that its not about the country that you live in, but to save the planet you live on. For the 2009 VOTE EARTH over 74 countries and territories had pledge their support, and numbers grow every day. Their goal… to have the Earth precious for future generations to live on.

Hey, so instead of having Earth Hour just once a year, how about trying it about once a month? When you go to the store during the day, instead of; leaving the lights on here and there, the radio on, etc. try opening the blinds to let the sunlight in. Its not bad for the Earth, sunlight is something natural and most likely won’t hurt anything inside your home. J Below are some pictures of Earth Hour 2009! Thanks for everyone who participated.

Recycling Bins

For one of my classes we get a LOT of papers. Vocab lists, worksheets, homework, conjunctions, other sheets to help us out with Spanish. The thing is there isn't a recycling bin in her class! If there isn't a recycling bin in any one of your classes definitely try to get one.
  • approximately 324 L. of water is used to produce 1 KG of paper
  • the average worldwide annual paper consumption is 48 KG per person
  • North America accounting over 1/3 of the 48 KG
  • an estimated 95% of business information is still stored on paper

Quickie Post

Ay yo... I've got a ton of homework but this has been on my mind for quite some time and I've been meaning to do something about it. Soooo the thing is:
I go to the mall... A LOT. Sure call me a shop-a-holic but its better than staying home on a Saturday doing absolutely nothing and then going around sulking because I don't have anything to do! Soo anyways back to my point. At the food courts there are a lot of different types of drinks that you can buy: soda bottles, soda cans, glass bottles, paper cups... paper cups you can just throw away but soday bottles, soda cans, glass bottles, those are the types of things that we can recycle. Of course, a lot of people don't really care, so I've come up with a few different solutions that I"m thinking about writing to the mall about:
1) Either they get rid of all the bottles and cans that can be recycled and just use paper cups
2) GET RECYCLING BINS (which I happen to think is a GREAT idea)
3) ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO USE THE RECYCLING BINS
4) Hmm... RECYCLING BINS placed strategically through out the mall

Sure it can be a hassle for the janitors in the malls, but its better for the world. We can recyle a lot and if we can they'd still have jobs and we'd all still be living. Americans are soooo wasteful but we just don't realize it because we're all like "oh our country's all rich and powerful we don't have to worry about anything because we're... AMERICANS" but the truth is we're one of the main reasons. We have a lot of cars, factories, the war that's going on, wasteful citizens, and the list goes on and on! Hope you read this and are encouraged, send an email to me at: ally.project@gmail.com
and join my petition to get recycling bins in the malls!

KK I'll update again soon!
